Getting ready for another day at the soccer fields......better get use to it.

Mia has now been to our pediatrician, the eye specialist, adoption specialist at All Children's Hospital and the dermatologist. Everything was good at our pediatrician but he had concerns with the birthmark/mole on her arm. The eye specialist said she will need to wear glasses and that may correct the lazy-eye, if not, she is a candidate for surgery later on. The adoption specialist put Cindy at easy the most. He checked her from head to toe, took 8 vials of blood for testing (no results yet) and observed her actions for about an hour. He was confident her minor developmental delay is nothing to be concerned with, common for Chinese children in an orphanage. And finally the dermatologist said that her "tattoo" ( I showed her my tattoos and told her that's what hers is) does not appear suspicious, we just have to monitor it and get checked once a year. He felt removing it now may cause more damage, unless something crops up, we will not have it removed until she has grown quite a bit. Mia is doing great, loves baths, wakes up smiling and likes to play with other kids. She has started to play with some of our friend's kid's that are around her age. She does have a visit to the dentist coming up,that should be interesting, and we don't think they ever cleaned her ears in the orphanage. Mia's are clogged so our doctor has us using a solution in them to help break it up, kind of nasty in there. Overall, she/we are doing good.

Update

Mia is just a happy kid. She wakes up every morning with a smile on. She is doing really good. Tomorrow we take her to get the birthmark looked at by the Dermatologist. It seems that it is more than a birthmark to our Doctor. I promise we'll try to take more pictures. Here are a few of her at Briley's school soccer game (Briley scored 2 goals) and her doing her best "American Idol" pose. We have truly been blessed with this little ball of energy.

Alright...you can get off my back now!

She's already an American girl

Sleeping on the bus ride to Hong Kong

OK here are some new pictures. Just kind of random China and at home. Sorry it has taken so long to update. we were home one day before we had to pack up for a 3 hour drive to a 3 day soccer tournament for Briley at University of Florida. So it was more hotels and more eating out which we are tired of. Mia has done pretty good since we have been back. Sleeping has been a little bit of an issue, but she fits right in with everyone we are around.

She had her first doctors visit yesterday, and we go to see the eye specialist and international adoption doctor with All Children's Hospital tomorrow. So we are still really busy with little rest in sight. Mia has started to let me do more thing for her and carry her a little. I get kisses on a regular basis now:) She loves to ride her little bike outside, sorry no pictures yet. I'm sure Cindy will have a follow up post shortly. More Pictures to come soon.

HOME!

Home...Tired.....post later.

We are sitting in the Hong Kong airport waiting for our flight to San Fran. with our precious cargo....Mia and Briley. It's about 12 hours to Cali and another 5 hour flight to Orlando. Mia has traveled so good on buses and the short flight we already had. This next one will be the big test. Can't wait to be in Orlando about 8pm

Last post before we leave.....

We leave tomorrow for Hong Kong, which is another story in itself. We fly out of Hong Kong the next day for San Francisco, then Orlando. I most likely won't have internet until we get home so it will be a couple days before I post again. Today we went to a park next to the hotel, not like our parks, there is no real open space. It was more like the garden area at Cypress Gardens. Then we had the rest of the day to shop(6hrs worth). Finished the day at Lucy's for dinner. Tomorrow we will take the picture of our whole group and kids before we check out to leave. I'll get those pictures up soon. Here should be enough pictures until we get home.

Thank you for all the prayers and comments while we have been on this journey. It isn't ending but really just beginning. Mia seems to be adjusting very well. She is really outgoing, and talkative even though we only understand a little of what she is saying. It seems our prayers have been answered as far as her adjusting goes(still no hugs for me). Everyday I just look at her and realize what a miracle God has blessed us with. It really hasn't set in yet what we have ahead of us, but most likely will when we get home. We love everyone and will see you soon!

Random Pics from GZ

Here are some random pics from the past couple days. There is anything from Lambos to pick-your-food-live to the real back streets of China.

It is the year of the Ox.

Another breakfast.

China backstreets about two blocks from the Lambo dealer.

Eating Papa John's with another family in our group, the torkelsons.

GZ Zoo.

We started today off at the Zoo. We take for granted a lot of things in the U.S. and this zoo is another example. It was suppose to be "really nice" but even our smallest zoo in Florida is much nicer. It was filled with a lot of birds, I said most likely because if they catch one they eat it. Only one Panda was outside. Here are a few pictures.

Two of the little girls with our group. Mia loves little kids.

A random soccer ball in the zoo.

I have to take my hugs when I can get them. She fell asleep on the way home, that's the only way I get to carry her.

All worn out.
